What is an audiologist?

Audiologists are professionals with Master’s or Doctoral degrees who are trained in hearing disorders and the non-medical treatment of hearing loss. Testing, consultation, and hearing aid fitting at Marin Hearing Center are performed by Doctors of Audiology (AuDs). We are licensed by the State of California as Dispensing Audiologists and are Fellows of the American Academy of Audiology, our national professional organization. We have state-of-the-art testing equipment and experience with the latest technology in hearing aids from a variety of manufacturers in order to meet the specific needs of our patients. We also have experience in hearing disorders, including tinnitus, noise-induced hearing loss, age-related hearing loss, hereditary hearing loss, and hearing loss due to medical or surgical conditions. In addition, we treat our patients holistically by providing research-based auditory rehabilitation to move our patients beyond amplification devices to better listening and communication.
